Toronto Board Meeting

Skateboarders hit the pavement for the 12th annual Toronto Board Meeting.

Although they are young, they are serious, and a critical mass of over 800 skaters in business attire took over the streets for a group ride. The main event was Slide Fu at the "Poop Shoot," a downhill longboard competition that launches from a Leaside supermarket parking lot and bottoms out at the North Toronto Wastewater Treatment Plant adjacent the Don River. In a congested city where the debate on transit seems to focus on cars vs. public transit and bicycles, the growing attendance of the Toronto Board Meeting sends a clear message that streets are for skaters too.
